GYMNASTICS
PRESENTS
THE
BIGGEST LITTLE GYMNASTICS
CAMP IN THE WORLD
2002 Summer Team Camp
Week 1 July 7th – 13th
Week 2 July 14th – 26st
Camp Philosophy and Schedule
The
2002 FLIPS USA Team Camp is designed for competitive gymnasts of all levels,
4 through Elite. Rotations on all Olympic events and additional training in
proper warm-up, alignment, flexibility, physical preparation, dance and
trampoline skills will be included in the daily camp schedule. The goal of
the camp is to provide gymnasts with the progressions, drills and body
mechanics that will enhance proper skill development and gymnastic
technique. While tricks will be attempted and may be learned at camp, the
emphasis of instruction will be to improve the base and core skills that are
necessary for higher-level skills. We strive for a safe and highly
motivated atmosphere at all times, and provide instruction by some of the
nation’s top coaches.
A variety
of afternoon recreational activities add to the camp experience. Typically
these include swimming, bowling, roller-skating, movies or miniature golf,
and a trip to
beautiful Lake Tahoe. The week culminates
with an evening of skits and dance demos performed by the campers, a family
barbecue and a sleepover for gymnasts.
A note to visiting coaches:
The foremost goal of camp is to provide
sound technique and fundamental skills that will lead to increased and
better-executed difficulty. Camp is designed to include you in this
process as much as possible by allowing you to rotate with the gymnasts,
observes sessions and give us input as to the specific areas or skills you
would like to concentrate on.
